WHAT: Promotional images of the hotel pageboys

WHEN: June 2010

WHERE: The Peninsula Shanghai

WHY: The Peninsula asked Limelight Studio to capture their stupendous hotel staff in Shanghai. They wanted to promote the friendliness and the hospitality of their pageboys, who go above and beyond the norm. This was a campaign they shot around the world at different locations.

HOW: The composition and tone of these shots had to be very structured because another photographer had already taken previous images of hotel staff and The Peninsula wanted to stay consistent. Since the images were outdoors, Limelight took advantage of the daylight and focused mainly on the composition and exposure of the photograph.

FUN FACT: Annie Leibovitz shot the rest of the images for The Peninsula around the world as well as one of the Shanghai ones.

For the Pageboy greeting, it was very important to capture the reflection of the Pearl Tower in the hotel’s front door. Daylight was used with one light to accentuate the warm welcoming smile of the pageboy.

在这张门童迎接贵宾的照片里，拍摄酒店前门里的东方明珠反光影像是非常重要的。除了要用一盏灯光照亮门童，来表现其温暖迎宾的微笑，其余大部分的影像都是利用自然光。此外，为了能够得到地板上更加清晰的反光影像，找到一个合适的曝光值十分重要。

We softened the strong sunlight with a scrim for the overall light, and then added a soft box to highlight the face, mimicking the natural daylight. Then, it was a matter of getting the boxes in the right orientation and capturing a warm smile.

拍摄这张照片时，由于自然光的光线十分强烈，因此在这里需要用到反光板。我们用了一个柔光箱来突出脸部光线，用来制造一个自然光感。其次盒子的对焦点需要十分准确，这样才能捕捉到一个温暖的笑容。

缘由：半岛酒店邀请Limelight Studio拍摄他们酒店里一流的工作人员。他们希望能够体现出门童友好热情的服务态度，以用来表现全球各地半岛酒店优秀完美的服务品质。

拍摄方法：由于之前已经有其他的摄影师拍过酒店员工的照片，半岛酒店也希望能与之前的摄影作品保持一致性，因此在拍摄过程中，照片的构图和色调是非常结构化的。因为这些照片是在室外拍摄的，我们利用了自然光的特点，将拍摄重点放在曝光和构图上。
